Our services

Bergkvist and Associates was established by Kath Bergkvist in 1992 and has been located in Park Avenue Kotara since 1996. Conveniently close to Westfield, our clients are able to take advantage of the variety of local shops and businesses close by.

Our clients include individuals and corporates located mostly in Newcastle, Hunter Region and Central Coast but a number are also interstate and overseas. Our hard working team is committed to understanding our clients’ needs to enable us to provide specialised service that delivers quality outcomes.

Careful selection of team members for jobs that best match their abilities and focus means you have the right person working on the right job. With one third of the team studying at university, we have a team of friendly professionals and experienced staff whose continuing professional development is the key to us maintaining our knowledge of ‘up to the minute’ legislation and trends.

Bergkvist & Associates is structured to provide a supportive framework with a number of senior accountants supported by intermediate accountants, trainees, secretarial and administrative staff.

KATH BERGKVIST
FPNA, FTIA

Kath began working in Taxation and Accounting in 1978 and gained registration as a Tax Agent in 1992.

Kath fosters the team culture and enjoyable work environment of the firm. She spends time in consultation with existing clients and ensuring the growth and market position of the firm. She enjoys sailing and the occasional fun run.

SENIOR ACCOUNTANTS

SCOTT SHARP
B. Com CPA Tax Agent

Scott joined Bergkvist and Associates in 2005 and is one the firm's Client Services Managers. He received his Bachelor of Commerce from The University of Newcastle and completed the CPA Program in 2005.

He has experience in areas including business services, superannuation, information technology and taxation. Scott's clients include building contractors, finance brokers, retailers and a variety of businesses.

DELIA SCOPULOVIC
B. Com CPA Tax Agent

Delia has worked in public practice since graduating from the University of Newcastle in 1990 with a Bachelor of Commerce. Delia then went on to become a CPA in 1993 and a registered tax agent in 1996.

Delia has 19 years tax and accounting experience across a broad range of small and medium businesses and has been a valued member of the Bergkvist & Associates team since 1998.

INTERMEDIATE ACCOUNTANTS

CAROL ALLAN
B. Com MNIA JP

Carol joined the firm in 2002 having held an Advanced Diploma in Accounting since 1996. She was awarded her Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Newcastle in July 2010.

Her responsibilities include accounting and taxation services for individuals, strata plans and small business including partnerships, companies and trusts. Carol’s main focus is on property and she is our resident Justice of the Peace.

ADAM HOSKINS

Adam is in his final year of a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Newcastle University. He has been a member of the team at Bergkvist & Associates since 2006.

Adam has become well grounded in accounting and taxation services for small businesses including self managed super funds, companies and trusts.

TRAINEE ACCOUNTANTS

JESSICA KEETON

Jess joined the firm in September 2008 and is completing a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Newcastle. As a trainee she has demonstrated her aptitude for both individual tax returns and small business work.

LUKE ROSSI

Luke joined the firm in September 2009 and is completing his Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Newcastle. He is proving to be a valuable assistant in the preparation of individual tax returns and the occasional small business work.

BOOKKEEPING

JULIE MICHELS

With over ten years experience in administration, Julie provides electronic bookkeeping services to clients who need help getting back on track. Julie can visit your premises on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis, to prepare BAS, payroll and super, accounts payable/receivable. MYOB training and setup is also available.

ADMINISTRATION

LISA FREEMANTLE

Lisa spends the majority of her office time in reception, capably handling a significant load of secretarial and personal assistant roles. She holds a Certificate III in Financial Services and with Patricia has improved work practices and procedures in the office.

PATRICIA JONES

Patricia has certification in Office Practice and Reception, being responsible for maintaining the quality control and integrity of our records management system and a range of administrative duties critical to office productivity.
